The Shikomu Karate Club, in association with Traditional Karate Arts Canada (TKAC), will be holding our Invitational Tournament on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Haber Recreation Centre (Gyms 3 & 4), 3040 Tim Dobbie Drive, L7M 0M3, Burlington. Doors open at 9:00. There will be a meeting at 9:30 for all black belts. Junior and intermediate competition starts at 10:00. There will be a break after the junior and intermediate divisions for medallion presentation. Adult competition and medallion presentation then follows.
Team Kata
We are introducing Team Kata this year and would encourage as many teams to take part as possible. The divisions are as follows:
- White-Yellow-Orange (All ages)
- Green-Blue (All Ages)
- Purple-Brown (All Ages)
- Black Belt
Teams will consist of three individuals. We understand that it may be difficult to put together a team based on the divisions above. Please note that a team that has a mixture of grades (e.g. Yellow, Green and Purple) will be accepted but the team will be entered in the division matching the highest graded individual in that team.
Details
For safety reasons, all competitors must wear a mouthguard, hand pads and groin protector during Kumite (sparring). Any competitor not wearing this equipment will not be allowed to compete in Kumite.
This is an amateur, recreational, non-contact karate event. No prize money will be awarded.
Registration
Competitors should register online. Registration closes May 5, 2019. Pre-registration is now closed. Competitors may register on the day of the event.
